Yet using new technology in the classroom poses many difficulties. This paper posits that one of the latest phenomena born out of digital technology, podcasting, can be used effectively for language learning purposes. We start with a broad look at the background to podcasting before outlining a practical project that involves language learners creating their own podcasts in a university setting. After researching the practical implications and potential linguistic and learning benefits of this new technology, it is felt that podcasts can have a positive impact on language learners.
