This is reflected in the fact that the world population of non-native speakers of English is much larger than that of native speakers. However, most English learners in Japan are not aware of this fact ; thus, they see the standard varieties, American and British English, as the only educational target. This paper argues the need to change this native-English-centric mode of thinking among English learners in Japan. To reach this aim, it is suggested that the existence of Englishes spoken in the world should be taught as well as the cultures associated with them. In this way, each English learner could choose 'an' English without being limited only to American and British English., 4, KJ00004767269}, pages = {1--15}, title = {「国際英語」と英語教育に関する一考察 : 桜美林大学学生意識調査を例として}, volume = {47}, year = {2007}, yomi = {アダチ, マサユキ} }
