F. Oberlin University, Tokyo. This course takes students through theprocess of creating and publishing their own podcasts with the overall goal of improving English proficiency. This paper introduces this course, beginning with a brief background of podcasting, before outlining the widespread benefits of the course to students. These include instruction in the four skill-areas, improvement in pronunciation and intonation, taking English outside the classroom, broadening IT skills and providing opportunities for selfassessment of spoken English. The paper also highlights benefits to teachers, technical requirements, feedback from student surveys and the types of tasks that students completed.
